What does gastronomy tourism taste like? ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ๐ŸŒฑ

It tastes like biodiversity, heritage, livelihoods and community.

On Sustainable Gastronomy Day, UN Tourism and its Affiliate Member, the Basque Culinary Center, are proud to launch Good Practices in the Development of Gastronomy Tourism.

Building on the 2019 Guidelines for the Development of Gastronomy Tourism, the publication brings together eight destinations:

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ Basque Country, Spain
๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท Brazil
๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฟ Brno, Czechia
๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Canada
๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Chile
๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ Quintana Roo, Mexico
๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ Slovenia
๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ Spain

to examine how each has applied the Guidelines to strengthen culinary identity, boost competitiveness and generate social, cultural and economic impact.

Through structured case studies, it offers a practical reference framework for destinations developing gastronomy tourism as a driver of sustainable development, in line with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.

8 destinations. 1 shared vision.

Zimbabwe didnโ€™t just welcome us. It ignited us.

The dancing. The energy. The women in that room who refused to be held back by walls that should never have existed.

This is what the 2nd UN Tourism Regional Congress on Womenโ€™s Empowerment in Tourism in Africa looks like.
This is what empowerment done right feels like.

Mentorship is not a luxury. It is a necessity. And the world heard that โ€” loud and clear.

From President Emmerson Mnangagwa to First Lady Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa to Minister Barbara Rwodzi โ€” this country showed up for its women.

And its women? They are flying.

Approved by consensus. In force today.
Andorra has adopted a new General Tourism Law.

Why does that matter?

Because tourism doesnโ€™t shape itself.

The new law strengthens quality, competitiveness, sustainability and the visitor experience while providing greater certainty for destinations, businesses and investors.

Congratulations to the Government of Andorra, the Ministry of Tourism and Commerce and Minister Jordi Torres Falcรณ for their leadership in advancing this milestone.

UN Tourism is proud to have supported this process through technical cooperation and strategic guidance, helping align tourism legislation with global priorities and visitor expectations.

The rules shape the game.

Andorra just changed theirs.

4 priorities. And a future shaped by the stories we choose to tell together.

At the 72nd Meeting of the UN Tourism Commission for Europe in ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡น Malta, our Secretary-General shared her vision โ€” and why Europe is central to everything we are doing.

Bringing together 41 European Member States, the Commission drives smarter, fairer, and more sustainable tourism policy.

One region. One shared agenda.

Connected thinking for connected challenges.
