Congratulations to the Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji on the launch of its Strategic Plan 2026–2031.

The plan sets an important direction for Fiji’s health system, strengthening services, improving access to quality care, and supporting healthcare workers across the country.

Australia is proud to have supported the development of the plan through the Australia Fiji Health Program, helping to shape a strong national roadmap for health.

Together with the Ministry, we are working to strengthen Fiji’s health workforce, improve quality care, support digital health systems, enhance supply chains, and ensure communities can access the care they need.

The rich cultures of the Pacific are on display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, including several Fijian artworks.

It’s part of the “Arts of Oceania” exhibition which has opened with fanfare, alongside a new space featuring First Nations Australian artworks.

Both exhibitions display the diverse cultures and creativity which connect our Blue Pacific.

Working in partnership with Ministry of Health & Medical Services - Fiji, Australia is supporting urgent infrastructure upgrades at CWM Hospital.

Upgrades include:
✅ Roofing and drainage remediation works across eight buildings
✅ Refurbishment of the Acute Patient Ward
✅ Installation of a new 200,000 litre potable water storage system
✅ Remediation of the Maternity Ward sewer infrastructure

These upgrades will support continuity of critical services and improve the everyday experience of patients and staff. The hospital will remain operational during the works, which are being delivered by local contractors.

Through the , Australia is working with Fiji to strengthen health systems and invest in priority health infrastructure for communities across Fiji.

When disasters strike, every minute counts.

For Waisake Namoce, Acting Administration Officer at the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, training on Working in the Emergency Operations Centre has transformed the way he responds to disasters.

“This training showed us that every piece of information matters during a disaster. When we can quickly understand what communities are facing and share that information with decision makers, support can reach people faster and response efforts can be better coordinated,” Waisake said.

Supported by 🇦🇺's Disaster Resilience Program, Fiji NDMO is training responders to quickly collect and share information, ensuring decisions happen faster when it matters most.

Over 100 responders are now part of this growing network, strengthening Fiji’s disaster readiness through the .
