Nagado Youths Celebrate Dream Come True with New Gym Equipment.
The youths of Nagado celebrated a historic milestone last-week as the Minister for Youth and Sports, Honourable Jese Saukuru, officially handed over a new set of gym equipment to the Nagado Youth Club, turning a long-awaited dream into reality.
For many years, young people from Nagado had to travel to Namaka and Nadi Town to access gym facilities. This often placed a financial burden on them, with transportation costs reaching up to $20 and an additional $5 required for gym usage. The lack of accessible fitness facilities within their community made it difficult for many youths to maintain regular training and healthy lifestyles.
The new gym equipment will now provide young people with a convenient and affordable way to stay active, improve their health, and pursue their fitness goals without the need to travel outside their community.
Hon. Saukuru congratulated the youth club members and acknowledged their patience, determination, and commitment throughout the years of waiting.
“This investment is about empowering our young people and ensuring they have access to opportunities that promote healthy living, personal development, and community well-being. Today marks the fulfilment of a dream that the youths of Nagado have patiently waited for, and I am pleased that we could deliver this much-needed support,” Minister Saukuru said
Present of Nagado Youth Club Mr. Simione Naloto expressed their gratitude to the Government and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for responding to their long-standing request. They described the handover as an answered prayer and a significant achievement for their community.
The new gym facility is expected to encourage more youths to participate in physical fitness activities, strengthen community engagement, and promote healthier lifestyles among young people in Nagado.
