The New Zealand Fiji Business Council (NZFBC) 2026 Business Mission has officially kicked off today at the Tanoa Plaza Hotel in Suva! 🇫🇯🇳🇿

It is a pleasure to welcome 37 business leaders representing 24 companies to Fiji for this year’s mission, held under the theme, "Duavata – Our Shared Vision."

We held a dynamic business forum featuring key insights into Fiji’s investment landscape.

Investment Fiji Chair, Mr. Filimone Waqabaca, shared that our economy is currently seeing strong momentum, with Investment Fiji actively managing a pipeline of 254 projects worth FJD 8.8 billion.

"We are deepening the Fiji–New Zealand "Duavata" (Together as One) partnership. This goes beyond simple transactions—it is about moving toward a strategic, long-term commitment where New Zealand businesses view Fiji not just as a destination, but as a regional production hub and investment partner."

Delegates engaged in productive, face-to-face discussions with Investment Fiji, the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, Immigration, the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji, and the iTaukei Land Trust Board to better understand the regulatory environment and explore trade opportunities.

Strengthening these partnerships is vital to our economic future. By facilitating direct connections between New Zealand and Fijian businesses, we are helping to:

Bula Vinaka! We have officially concluded the AHICE Fiji Investment in Tourism Conference at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa.

It was an inspiring conference, and we are energized by the momentum building for the future of our tourism industry.

Our CEO, Mr. Kamal Chetty, had the opportunity to present the Tourism Investment Outlook for Fiji, highlighting the data and support available to turn visions into reality.

We were also honored to have the Assistant Minister for Commerce and Business Development, Hon. Sachida Nand, join us for the closing remarks. He noted that the tourism landscape across the Asia-Pacific region is changing rapidly as modern travelers seek environmentally responsible destinations and authentic cultural immersion.

To meet these needs, the Ministry of Commerce and Business Development is actively facilitating continuous infrastructure investment in close collaboration with Investment Fiji and other government agencies.

Hon. Nand emphasized that they understand investment decisions require confidence, transparency, and efficient processes, adding that through policy reforms, regulatory improvements, and enhanced collaboration with the private sector, they continue to strengthen Fiji's competitiveness as an investment destination.

The summit showed us exactly where the industry is heading, especially with the new Tourism Bill 2026, which gives investors the simple and stable rules they need to feel confident. Conversations throughout the event showed that there is huge potential to do more in Fiji.

Furthermore, the event focused on how to run better businesses, with tech classes showing operators how to provide the best service to guests all year round. The "Farm to Fork" project was also a main focus, showing how we can protect our profits while buying food from local farmers to make sure tourism money stays in our own communities.

Vinaka Vakalevu to HM Magazine, Tourism Fiji, and the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, for their dedication in making this summit a success.

We also extend our sincere thanks to all our valued event partners and sponsors who supported this initiative.

Thank you to all the tourism and hotel industries who joined us. Your presence and your passion for Fiji are what will build a stronger, more prosperous nation.

Investment Fiji is honored to have played a part in this journey. We look forward to turning the conversations we had this week into the projects that will shape our future.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Viliame Gavoka, shared a clear vision for Fiji’s future at the AHICE conference at the Crowne Plaza Nadi today.

Hon. Gavoka said Fiji’s tourism is growing fast and we have a goal to reach 1.25 million visitors and $4 billion in earnings by 2027. To do this, we need to build 4,000 new hotel rooms, and we have 53 investment projects ready to go, worth $3.1 billion.

After the opening was an interactive and important series of talks for our partners. Leading developers from firms like JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group shared ideas on the future of Fiji’s resorts and new tourism spots.

We also heard from Fiji Airways on how they are bringing more people to Fiji by expanding their flight routes. Experts from major global hotel brands, including La Vie Hotels and Resorts, also discussed how their brands are growing in our market. We also hosted a special session with Jay Singh, the owner of the Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort and Spa, about his experience in the industry, while our final session looked at new trends in building hotels and wellness services to make sure guests have a great experience.

AHICE is a platform where we connect the right people to make things happen; it is the best place to bring together hotel owners, investors, and industry experts. It allows us to form strong partnerships, learn from one another, and turn our big goals into projects that help Fiji’s economy and people thrive.

Investment Fiji team is at the conference until tomorrow, and we are ready to help you understand our tax breaks; like the 20-year tax holiday for large projects and help you get your project started.
