This is a fantastic and thoroughly deserved recognition of Ted’s unwavering dedication, commitment, and outstanding service. His contribution to the Waterloo Band and Bugles has been immense, and this prestigious award reflects the respect and admiration he has earned from colleagues, friends, and the wider military community.

We are incredibly proud of Ted’s achievement and grateful for everything he has done in support of the Regiment and the Waterloo Band.

Today marks 211 years since the Battle of Waterloo, fought on 18 June 1815.

The Waterloo Band & Bugles takes its name from the Waterloo battle honours earned by our antecedent regiments — the 95th Rifles (later the Rifle Brigade), the Light Infantry battalions of the King’s Royal Rifle Corps and the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.

We are proud to support Waterloo Day celebrations throughout the week…

Today, our thoughts and gratitude go out to D Company, 2nd Battalion, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. The elite glider‑borne assault force that carried out Operation Deadstick — the coup‑de‑main attack that captured Pegasus Bridge and Horsa Bridge in the first minutes of D‑Day. They were the very first Allied troops to land in Normandy.
