🚌 ACTION ON BUS SERVICES 🚌

On the doorstep across the whole of the ward, unreliable bus services are one of the biggest issues residents raise with us.

People are rightly fed up with cancellations, missed stops and unreliable timetables on the 345 route in particular. When so many residents rely on these services every day, they need to be dependable - and right now, they’re simply not good enough.

Your Labour Councillors are meeting directly with Arriva, Merseytravel and the Metro Mayor’s office to demand better for residents who rely on these routes. We want to see an end to the sudden terminations that leave vulnerable residents stranded, and the long delays and poor communication that make passengers late for work, school and vital appointments.

From next year - because we have a Labour Mayor and Labour led council - bus services in Sefton will begin coming back under public control through the Mayor’s bus franchising model. Giving us the opportunity to deliver the reliable, accountable bus network that communities in Aintree, Melling and Maghull South deserve.

As Labour councillors, we will be right at the heart of this process to secure the transport services our communities need.

I’m honoured to be re-elected to represent Aintree, Melling and Maghull South alongside Cllr Marion Atkinson and Cllr Danny Burns.

Thank you to everyone who supported us and put their trust in us once again.

We’re here all year round - supporting residents, running community events and Saturday surgeries, and delivering for our area.

We’ll keep working hard to make sure our community remains a great place to live, to work and to raise a family.

Plus, the Labour Government is providing Sefton Council with an extra ÂŁ187,000 to implement these rules for local renters and hold rogue landlords to account.

Roadworks on Wango Lane have been confirmed to begin on 26th May.

Road closure will be in place for up to three days while Sefton Highways carries out essential reconstruction of the road surface between Valley Close and Sherwood's Lane

Thanks to increased funding for road improvements under the Labour government, we’ve secured £1 million of investment in our ward’s roads over the past year—supporting improvements across Aintree, Melling and Maghull South.

Much done. Much more to do.

Gully repairs are on the way on Liverpool Road South👍

These gullies on Liverpool Road South have now been marked up for repair after Councillors had reports of flash flooding outside the shops and the dentist.

Thanks to residents and businesses who raised this - great to see action being taken.

We all love the countryside around Melling - but littering on our back roads has become a persistent problem.

Since the start of the year, we’ve been working with Sefton’s Cleansing Team to find a way forward. Now, that work is happening.

Over the next few days, teams will be out on Waddicar Lane and Prescot Road clearing the hedgerows. There may be some temporary traffic lights while the work takes place, but it’s all part of making our area cleaner for everyone.

We’re really grateful to the cleansing team for their support—not just with this work, but also for helping local volunteers and schools during the Great British Spring Clean.

** Update on Sefton Cleansing Work on Waddicar Lane and Prescot Road **

Sefton Council’s Cleansing Team will be carrying out litter removal works along Waddicar Lane and Prescot Road, starting tomorrow and continuing throughout the rest of the week.

We’ve been working with the cleansing team since the beginning of the year to arrange this and tackle the ongoing issue of litter building up on these back roads.

To keep everyone safe, temporary traffic lights will be in place while the work is carried out.

We’re grateful to the cleansing team for working with us, and for their support for volunteers and local schools during the recent Great British Spring Clean campaign.

Thank you for your patience while this work is underway to help keep our area clean and tidy.

After resurfacing in Melling, residents spoke to us about road markings that needed updating.

We chased it up and got it done, helping keep pedestrians and road users safe.

Reported and sorted.

This year Labour councillors have secured a ÂŁ1million investment in roads for our ward. There's much still to do, but we're getting on with job in Aintree, Melling and Maghull South.
