Today marks 211 years since the Battle of Waterloo, fought on 18 June 1815.

The Waterloo Band & Bugles takes its name from the Waterloo battle honours earned by our antecedent regiments — the 95th Rifles (later the Rifle Brigade), the Light Infantry battalions of the King’s Royal Rifle Corps and the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.

We are proud to support Waterloo Day celebrations throughout the week…

A huge thank you to Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries Ferries for their advocacy and support of our Defence Employer Engagement event at Newtown Range and Jersey Camp on the Isle of Wight yesterday.

By providing assisted travel for our Service personnel, both Regular and Reserve from 6 Solent Region units, Wightlink helped in bringing together employers with members of the Armed Forces community to share experiences, build connections and strengthen understanding of Defence's contribution to society and the workplace.

Their support demonstrates a real commitment to the Armed Forces community and helps ensure that valuable conversations between Defence and local employers can take place.

Thank you for helping us make this event possible.

An exclusive afternoon of networking, insight and engagement with representatives from local Reserve Units and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Cadet Forces. Attendees will hear directly from Reservists, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and military leaders about the skills, experiences and value that Defence brings to local businesses and communities.

A 16-year-old student from Aldershot has marked the Armed Forces Day National Event in a very special way.

As part of his GCSE Music coursework, Isaac Stone has composed an original piece inspired by British Army ceremonial and parade traditions. Isaac, who has been playing the clarinet since the age of eight, has developed his passion for military music through performing in a cadet force band.

The composition features the range of instruments you would expect to hear in a military band, including a dedicated bugle part as a nod to the emblem on Isaac’s cadet cap badge.

Isaac is proud of Aldershot’s military heritage and would love to hear his music performed by a military band in a parade. As well as forming part of a school project, he also hopes to highlight the creative and artistic side of the military and encourage a wider appreciation of military music.

Well done Isaac!

Serving in the Royal Air Force is a proud tradition for many families, but for Air Specialist Class 2 Louise and her daughter, Caitlyn, that tradition has taken on a truly special meaning as they found themselves training side by side at the same point in their RAF journeys. AS2 Louise has told us all about their story on our website, https://lnkd.in/eSteZCnN
