An Amber Heat-Health Alert comes into effect across the West Midlands from 9pm tonight (26 June) and remains in place until 9am on Sunday 28 June.

Please continue to take steps to stay safe in the heat:

🌞 Avoid the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm)
🏠 Keep homes cool by closing curtains or blinds
🌊 Stay safe around water
πŸ‘΅ Check in on older relatives, neighbours and anyone who may be more vulnerable
πŸš— Never leave children or pets in parked cars

Do you know the signs of heat exhaustion?

Common signs include:
- Heavy sweating
- Dizziness or headaches
- Feeling sick
- Muscle cramps
- Fast breathing or heartbeat
- Feeling weak or tired

If someone has heat exhaustion:
βœ… Move them somewhere cool
πŸ’§ Give them water
🧴 Cool their skin with water or a fan

If symptoms don’t improve within 30 minutes, seek urgent medical advice.

🌑️ RED HEAT HEALTH ALERT EXTENDED 🌑️

The Red Heat Health Alert for the West Midlands has been extended and will now remain in place until 11pm on Friday 26 June.

Please take extra care in the heat and check on family, neighbours and anyone who may be more vulnerable.

Know the signs:

⚠️ Heat exhaustion can cause:
β€’ Dizziness
β€’ Feeling unwell
β€’ Excessive thirst
β€’ Muscle cramps

➑️ If this happens, move to a cool place, drink water and try to cool down.

🚨 If symptoms don’t improve after 30 minutes, this could become heatstroke (a medical emergency).

Look out for:
β€’ A high temperature
β€’ Confusion
β€’ No sweating despite being hot
β€’ Fast or heavy breathing

πŸ“ž Call NHS 111 if you're still unwell.
πŸš‘ Call 999 in an emergency.

An amber extreme heat alert is in place across the West Midlands from 11am on 22/06/2026 until 11.59pm on 23/06/2026. This will be followed by a red extreme weather alert in the region from 9am on 24/06/2026 to 9pm on 25/06/2026.

Extreme heat can affect everyone, not just those who are vulnerable to hot weather, so please take extra care to stay safe and cool.

βœ… Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water
βœ… Keep out of the sun and avoid any exercise between 11am–3pm
βœ… Check in on elderly or vulnerable neighbours
βœ… If you need to go out, stay in the shade, wear sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat, and take water with you
βœ… Keep curtains/blinds closed in rooms facing the sun
