This week, we proudly recognise Volunteers Week, a time to celebrate the incredible contributions of volunteers across our organisation and communities.
Volunteers give their time, skills and compassion to support patients, colleagues and services in ways that make a real difference every day. Their dedication embodies the very best of our values, helping to create a caring, supportive environment for everyone.
Thank you to all our volunteers and those across the NHS for your support, whether that's greeting patients and helping direct them around the hospital, supporting our medical students with patient simulation, helping out on the wards or keeping our lovely gardens bright and green π«Ά
Keep reading for why some of our volunteers give their time to the ROH:
Graham - Volunteer for 7 years: "Having had four lots of surgery at the ROH I wanted to pay back in some way having been so well looked after during the whole process."
Pamela - Volunteer for 22 years: "I enjoy gardening especially in company and having received excellent treatment at ROH felt I would like to give something back."
Hasan - Volunteer for 1 year: "I volunteer at ROH because I genuinely enjoy helping people and being part of something meaningful. Iβve always believed that even small acts of kindness, like giving time, listening, can make a difference. I'm attracted to ROH's caring environment. I admire how everyone works together to support the community, and teamwork, which provide purpose and help me grow, becoming more confident, patient, and understanding when working with different people."
