PCS Midlands Regional Committee Statement of Solidarity

PCS Midlands Regional Committee sends its deepest condolences and solidarity to everyone affected by the tragic train collision near Bedford involving East Midlands Railway services on 19 June 2026.

Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of the train driver who lost their life, and with all those who were injured or traumatised as a result of this devastating incident. We also extend our support to railway workers, emergency service personnel and healthcare staff who responded to the incident and continue to provide assistance in its aftermath.

At this difficult time, we stand in solidarity with all railway workers and their unions, recognising the professionalism and dedication shown by transport staff every day in keeping the public safe.

We hope for the full recovery of all those injured and look forward to a thorough investigation that establishes the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.

In solidarity,
PCS Midlands Regional Committee

Fantastic news from PCS Conference ✊♀️

Conference voted to strengthen PCS support for the Women’s Chainmakers’ Festival, recognising it deserves the same national recognition as Tolpuddle and the Durham Miners’ Gala as the only celebration of women in the trade union movement 💜

Huge thanks to DWP Birmingham South for moving the motion, and to Home Office Midlands and HMRC West Mercia for speaking in support, along with many other Midlands branches who have actively supported.

Now let’s make this year’s festival bigger than ever, come along and celebrate the women who helped build our movement!
