Yesterday evening we were called to reports of smoke issuing from the derelict primary school on Elliott street. On our arrival due to the amount of smoke issuing from the roof and windows the incident was quickly made up to 5 pumps and a aerial appliance. Silsdenβs crew worked hard to break into the school and with help from our colleagues at Keighley, Skipton, Grassington and Bingley we successfully extinguished the fire.
Silsden Fire Station are actively recruiting for on-call Firefighters, so if you live or work within 5 minutes of the station, please call into station tonight 6-8pm to enquire about joining.

On this day 41 years ago, 54 Bradford City supporters and two Lincoln City supporters went to a football match and never returned home.
Today, we remember the 56 people who lost their lives in the Valley Parade fire on 11th May 1985, and hold in our thoughts the families, survivors and all those affected by the tragedy.
We remember not only the 56 lives lost, but also the lasting impact the fire had on our communities and on our fire and rescue family.
We will never forget, .

π With many schools across West Yorkshire returning after the Easter break, Blue Watch joined partners for a community visit focused on safer school runs.
Working alongside colleagues from the Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Team, the visit formed part of the ongoing Vision Zero - West Yorkshire.
The session was all about positive, practical conversations with parents, carers and local residents - sharing simple steps we can all take to help keep school communities safer.
That means:
βοΈ keeping pavements clear so children, prams and wheelchair users can pass safely
βοΈ leaving junctions clear so everyone can see clearly when pulling out or crossing
βοΈ keeping access open for emergency service vehicles, so help can get through quickly if itβs ever needed
Crews and officers shared friendly advice, handed out safety information, and signposted Vision Zero resources to help build long-term awareness.
It was encouraging to see so many people welcoming the chance to talk through the small changes that can make a big difference!
Partnership work like this is a key part of Vision Zero - working with communities to reduce risk, create safer streets for everyone and make West Yorkshire safer.
ππΌ Thank you, Bingley Blue Watch.
