On Monday, Museum of Liverpool was buzzing with ideas and creativity of the talented local young people taking part in Maritime Heritage Maritime Futures ⚓🌟

The Daniel Adamson Preservation Society's flagship youth engagement event was delivered in partnership with National Museums Liverpool, Canal & River Trust, Liverpool John Moores University and maritime industry organisations.

It was a pleasure to host the event which forms part of The Danny’s ongoing commitment to celebrating the region’s maritime history, while inspiring future generations to engage with the evolving world of maritime innovation.

Taking place across our beautiful waterfront, from Museum of Liverpool to aboard the The Danny and in the water of Duke’s Dock, the event brought together secondary school and further education students, industry and heritage leaders, educators and engineering apprentices and cadets, for a full day of talks and demonstrations. ⛵🌊

Ian Murphy, Head of Maritime Museum, says “Liverpool’s Maritime Museum shares fascinating stories of how deeply connected local communities have always been to the sea and the maritime industry. So, we were delighted to partner with The Danny and support young people in the region to engage with their rich maritime heritage, and feel inspired for their future studies and careers.”

Do you have family ties to Titanic? 🚢

Our curators are on the lookout for people from the Liverpool City Region with connections to RMS Titanic.

Around 90 to over 100 crew members on Titanic had strong ties to Liverpool or Merseyside. Although the ship was registered in Liverpool and run by the Liverpool-based White Star Line, many of its key officers, engineers, and crew were from the city.

As part of our major redevelopment project, we’re eager to uncover some of these incredible stories that might still be alive in Liverpool's families and communities today.

This fascinating read by Dr Simona Palladino, Senior Lecturer in Social Sciences at Liverpool Hope University is an update on her research into the communities impacted by the tragic sinking of Arandora Star 👇🏽
