We are looking for a maximum of 3 new Trustees to join the Board. We welcome individuals with a passion for heritage and the energy to drive the museum forward. We have large ambitions for the next 3 years to become a thriving modern museum that supports a diverse community as a relevant place to gather share and learn.
We are extremely keen to increase the age spread and diversity of our visitors, so would welcome candidates who would reflect this in the make-up of the CIO board.
There is no formal application form to complete. However, we would like to have an indication of your motivation for wishing to become a trustee, together with a current CV. You will then be contacted by the Chairman of the CIO within 5 working days of receipt of your application for an informal discussion via Zoom or similar. Based on a successful conversation, a formal face-to-face meeting with at least three trustees would be arranged.
More details can be found here:

๐งบ It's National Picnic Week โ and we have the best picnic spot in SW London.
Wimbledon Common has been a public green space since 1871 โ the same year 19 people were living inside our windmill. Back then, they didn't need to pack a picnic. They practically lived in the snack cupboard.
Times have changed. The Common hasn't. Grab a blanket, pack something floury, and come say hello to the sails. ๐ฟ๐ฅง
Open every weekend | ๐ Wimbledon Common | wimbledonwindmill.org.uk
โNational Picnic Week aims to encourage people to take the ideal opportunity to get together over a picnic with advice, tips, recipes and information to make sure you have everything from the food and drink to the location or surroundings.
โ
Picnicking is one of the UKโs most enjoyable summer traditions, and is a great way of taking advantage of any open spaces in your local area over the warmer months of the year.

๐จ It's Global Wind Day โ and honestly, it might as well be our birthday.
Since 1817, we've been harnessing the wind blowing across Wimbledon Common. No battery required. No plug socket. Just four wooden sails and a very good location.
The world's getting excited about wind energy. We've been excited about it for over 200 years.
Come visit the original wind power. Open this weekend ๐ฌ๏ธโ๏ธ

๐๏ธ Did you know? Baden Powell wrote Scouting for Boys right next door.
The founder of the Scout movement lived at the Miller's House โ just yards from our windmill โ when he wrote one of the best-selling books of all time. Over 100 million copies sold since 1908. Not bad for a neighbour.
Come and see where the scouting world began. Open weekends, AprilโOctober. ๐ฟโ๏ธ

๐พ Happy World Food Safety Day! We've been taking food seriously since 1817.
Long before food standards agencies and hygiene ratings, millers were the gatekeepers of the nation's flour. Bad grain in = bad bread out. The miller's reputation โ and the village's dinner โ depended on getting it right.
One grain of wheat makes over 20,000 particles of flour. That's a lot to get right. โ๏ธ
Come and see how it was done, open weekends on Wimbledon Common.
