Life is full of stress, especially for foster carers and the children in their care. Emotional resilience is the ability to manage stressful moments. It is something we are all capable of. However, we can also build it up so that we are able to bounce back from stress more quickly.
This week we are holding a training session for our carers, to aid them in building their own emotional resilience, as well as being there to develop their children's level of resilience stress

You will spend a lot of time on paperwork. From the initial assessment, to keeping daily logs for safeguarding and continuity. Paperwork serves a vital purpose.
You might work alongside birth parents. In many cases, this is vital in maintaining the child's identity and supporting reunification.
Children may stay with you beyond 18. With recent legislation changes, many young people are choosing to stay with their foster families.
Saying goodbye hurts but is worth it. Whether it is a few weeks or years, relationships and bonds are built, making goodbyes hard. There are steps you can take to ease the transition, whilst also validating your own pain of parting.

We had a great time last week during the May half term! Our amazing young people skated their socks off at .uk . Some of our staff even tried (though fair to say the young people did a better job!)
