📅There's still time to register online for free lecture 'Marine Aviation as a Fleet Air Arm in the Pacific War, 1941–1945', being broadcast this Thursday at 6.00pm.

Dr Peter F. Owen, Lieutenant Colonel, USMC (Retired), will explore how U.S. Marine Corps aviation operated during the Pacific War — not primarily in support of marines ashore, but in defence of fleets, ships and bases, and in strikes against enemy vessels and installations.

The lecture will also examine the history of US Air Force Squadron VMF-221, the Fighting Falcons, from its destruction at the Battle of the Midway to later campaigns in the Solomons and aboard USS Bunker Hill.

🛩️ Looking for a fun and creative activity for the children this weekend?

Our popular Airfix Model Club returns to the RAF Museum London on 13–14 June, giving young aviation enthusiasts the chance to get hands-on and build their very own Mitsubishi Zero model aircraft.

Designed for children aged 8 and over, the club encourages creativity, patience and an interest in aviation history. Participants can also collect stamps in their engineer's licence as they work their way through the programme, with a special mystery aircraft kit awaiting those who complete all ten sessions in 2026. 🌟
