On the evening of Thursday 21 May 2026, the Master Treasurer invited all Members to attend a House Dinner marking the 400th anniversary of life, works and death of Sir Francis Bacon.

The celebration featured thought‑provoking addresses, period music, and a meticulous recreation of the sights and sounds of Bacon’s time.

The feedback from guests says it best:
“It had it all, from period costumes and Madrigals to delightful food and controversial speeches… I am sure Francis himself would be proud.”

Our thanks go to all who contributed, from speakers and performers to the teams who worked behind the scenes to deliver a fantastic event.

A brilliant weekend in Cumberland Lodge for our second Student Residential.

From advocacy training and practical workshops to networking and social events, students had the opportunity to develop their skills, grow their confidence and connect with fellow aspiring barristers.

Set within the beautiful surroundings of Cumberland Lodge, we’re looking forward to a weekend of advocacy, learning, networking and making lasting connections at the Student Residential this weekend.

Next week, Gray's Inn will be walking 10km with the London Legal Support Trust on the 9th June.

The London supports hundreds of advice charities, ensuring those in need are able to access justice.

As we approach the Whitsun break, please note that the Inn will be closed from Monday 25 May to Friday 29 May.

During this time, services including the Treasury, Education and Lunch in Hall will be unavailable.

The Bridge Bar and Library will remain open from 26–29 May on reduced hours (9am–5pm).

Normal operations will resume on Monday 1 June.
