We fondly remember when Little Amal came to Lewisham and received her very own library card. A powerful symbol of welcome, community, and access to learning for all. 📚✨

Amal, the 12-foot puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child, represents millions of children displaced by war, violence, and persecution. Since 2021, her journey across the world has brought people together in acts of solidarity, art, and hope. Her message continues to resonate: “Don’t forget about us.”

At Lewisham Libraries, we stand with refugees and celebrate the stories they bring. Whether you’re new to Lewisham or have always been here, our doors, books, and services are open to you, always.
