📚 Join us on 18th June at 6.30pm (BST) for our next Book Club session as we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the publication of ‘Grande Sertão: Veredas’ (The Devil to Pay in the Backlands) by João Guimarães Rosa (1908-1967), one of the greatest Brazilian novels of the twentieth century.
Journey through the vast Brazilian sertão, along the borders of Bahia, Goiás and Minas Gerais, and discover a world of myths, superstitions, jagunços, cangaceiros and unforgettable characters. A landmark of Brazilian literature, ‘Grande Sertão: Veredas’ remains one of the most innovative and influential novels ever written in Portuguese.

FUNAG launches English edition of Cadernos de Política Exterior
The Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG) is pleased to announce the release of the English-language edition of the Foreign Policy Notebooks (Cadernos de Política Exterior), a journal published by the International Relations Research Institute (IPRI) since 2015.
The translation of this series aims to broaden the international reach of discussions on contemporary issues of interest to Brazil, while also promoting the global dissemination of Brazilian research on international policy.
The first two English-language issues of the Foreign Policy Notebooks (corresponding to numbers 16 and 17 of the series) are now available free of charge in FUNAG’s digital library:
