We are helping road users benefit from fewer disruptions and more reliable journeys through the rollout of a new generation of longer-lasting safety barriers across our National Highways Maintenance and Response portfolio.
Delivered in partnership with Hill & Smith VRS Ltd, the innovative barrier system uses advanced pre-galvanised steel to improve durability, reduce maintenance needs and lower whole-life carbon.
By integrating the installation into planned maintenance activity, the programme will support safer, more resilient roads with no additional disruption to road users.

Ireland’s rail ambition is accelerating, with investment being made at a scale not seen for decades.
As programmes grow in pace, scale and complexity, success will depend not only on completing infrastructure, but on ensuring the whole railway system is operationally ready when passengers and freight rely on it.
In his latest article with Ireland’s eolas Magazine, Matt Gibson, Technical Director at Amey, makes the case for putting operational readiness at the heart of infrastructure delivery in the country, not as an afterthought, but as a central driver of success. He explores how outcome-led partnering can reduce risk, and what projects like the Core Valley Lines transformation in Wales can teach us.
We are proud to bring our experience in systems integration and operational readiness to Ireland, supporting clients to turn complex programmes into reliable, operational railways.

We are proud to celebrate the successful completion of Phase 2 of our Unlocking Future Connections programme at HMP Inverness, with residents completing the Construction Academy achieving a 100% pass rate.
This phase marks a groundbreaking first: an innovative programme delivered in partnership with the Scottish Prison Service that brings together both untried remand and mainstream residents, creating access to opportunities for individuals who have not typically been included in programmes of this kind.
Delivered with Raeburn Training and our supply chain partners, the programme provides industry-recognised training, including CSCS cards, helping participants build skills, confidence and pathways into employment.
It also marks the point at which we begin to fully utilise CITB funding to support future delivery, following recent Highly Commended recognition at the Scottish Transport Awards.
Thank you to all partners and colleagues involved in making this possible.

AI is helping us transform highways operations from the ground up.
Working with FYLD, we have developed a digital operating platform that brings real-time frontline intelligence into day-to-day delivery, helping teams work more safely, efficiently and consistently across our highways contracts.
The platform has already supported more than 1,900 jobs, reduced pre-work assessment time by up to 50 percent, and helped teams identify and control over 12,000 on-site hazards.
By embedding AI directly into operational workflows, we are giving supervisors clearer visibility, supporting faster decisions and strengthening safety assurance across live networks.
This is a practical example of innovation delivering measurable value today, while helping to shape the future of digitally enabled highways delivery.

Great to see Wayne Brigden representing Amey at this week’s RICS Wales Conference, sharing insights from one of the UK’s most ambitious rail transformation programmes.
Alongside Transport for Wales' Chief Infrastructure Officer, Dan Tipper, Wayne spotlighted the journey to transform the Core Valley Lines into the CVL Metro - helping to reshape how communities across South Wales connect, travel and thrive.
Delivered in partnership with TfW, this programme has pushed the boundaries of traditional rail delivery - introducing innovative techniques, new technologies and a truly collaborative approach to infrastructure. From smart electrification to integrated delivery models, the lessons shared offer valuable insight not just for rail, but for the wider surveying and built environment sectors.
A great example of how collaboration, innovation and shared ambition can drive meaningful change for passengers, communities and the future of sustainable transport.

More than 20,000 miles of electric journeys have now been powered through our EV charging network across Trafford and Manchester.
As the UK marks Clean Air Day, new data shows the network has helped drivers avoid an estimated 3.9 tonnes of CO₂ emissions since installation, demonstrating the role accessible public charging infrastructure can play in supporting cleaner transport and improved air quality.
Some charging units within the network were supplied by TRT Lighting Limited, which plants one tree for every unit produced, helping to deliver wider environmental benefits alongside the growth in EV charging.
Drivers can view the full list of charging locations across Trafford and Manchester by downloading the Amey EVC app.
