Twenty MPs whose names were drawn in the Private Members' Bill ballot presented their bills in the House of Commons today.

Private Members Bills can only be introduced by backbench MPs, who choose the topic of the bill.

MPs drawn in the ballot have priority for the limited amount of debating time for Private Members' Bills.

Today Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy faced questions from MPs in UK House of Commons.

Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) is a 30-minute session that allows MPs to ask questions to the Prime Minister or a nominated minister. This helps hold the government to account.

PMQs usually starts with the Prime Minister answering a routine question on his official engagements that day, which is then followed by questions from the Leader of the Opposition, or a nominated deputy, and other MPs on any topic they choose.
