Very positive comments!
The Director of Public Health in Somerset believes there should be a safe space for drug addicts to safely use substances.
In a recent interview with the BBC, Alison Bell said: "My dream would be to have a safe injecting space where there is medical supervision so that people who are addicted to substances can use the substance safely and have medical support if they need it.
"There’s currently a pilot going on in Glasgow. It launched a year and a half ago and early indications are that it’s successful, it limits harm and so it’s bringing together the testing of the substances, so you know what people are taking, but it also makes sure that people have early help if they overdose."

We’ve said this before: Prisons are a useful gauge. If we struggle to disrupt supplies in secure institutions how care we expect to do so in wider society?

We see the terminology of ‘zombie dr*g’ used often, but this arbitrary phrase does little to help. Not only is it inaccurate but it further stigmatises those who may need help.
We also have to address the rather large elephant in the room… substances will increase in strength and will also lack consistency in purity. This is the whole frustrating point. When we relinquish power over to organised crime then we have absolutely no quality control. When will we see different attention-grabbing headlines?

Why are coc*ine deaths rising? There are many factors, but the conclusion is that we need to do things differently if we’re committed to saving lives.

‘The Science Is Clear: Forced Addiction Treatment Fails’
“Mounting evidence from researchers, public health experts, and former law enforcement shows that punitive, coercive approaches to homeless addiction not only fail to reduce drug use but also increase overdose deaths, worsen housing instability, and cost taxpayers more than proven alternatives.”
