📻 Yesterday, our CEO, Sam Morfey, was interviewed by Greatest Hits Radio Suffolk on the growing calls for paternity leave reform.
At Both Parents Matter, we believe children benefit when both parents are able to build strong, secure relationships from the earliest days of their lives. That's why we're supporting calls for a paternity leave system that better reflects the needs of modern families.
For too long, fathers have often been treated as secondary parents rather than equally valuable parental figures. Reforming paternity leave would be an important step towards recognising that dads are not dispensable or optional extras in a child's life, but a vital part of their development, wellbeing and sense of identity.
The current system leaves many fathers unable to take the time they need with their newborn children, particularly when financial pressures make leave unaffordable. Giving fathers the opportunity to be present and involved from the start benefits children, strengthens families, and helps build a culture where parenting is seen as a shared responsibility.
Thank you to Jasmine Oak and the team at for covering this important issue.

Tonight, Gareth Southgate's BBC documentary Changing the Game for Young Men shines a spotlight on the challenges facing boys and young men in Britain.
At Both Parents Matter, we believe one vital part of the conversation is too often overlooked: the importance of fathers.
Every child deserves the opportunity to benefit from positive role models, and for most children that starts with meaningful involvement from both parents.
If we're serious about supporting the next generation, we need to recognise that both parents, including fathers, matter.
Changing the Game for Young Men is on BBC 1 at 9pm tonight or available on iplayer:

🏴 Two peaks, two very different experiences today — but one shared mission. 💙
Sam reached the summit of Snowdon in glorious sunshine ☀️ while over on Ben Nevis, Frances faced snow, freezing winds and clouds. Although conditions meant she couldn’t make the final ascent herself, the Both Parents Matter flag still proudly made it to the top thanks to the team from Shared Parenting Scotland. ❄️🏔️
Together, they’ve helped raise awareness and support for families across the UK as part of our campaign.
Huge congratulations to Sam, Frances and everyone involved in flying the flag for shared parenting and family support nationwide. 💙
If you’d like to support the campaign — or even take on your own fundraising challenge — there’s still time to get involved this May!

🌧️ Up in Scotland it's a slightly less sunny start for Frances at the base of Ben Nevis.

🍟⛰️ Our Chair of Trustees - Frances Carr - has taken an 'interesting' approach to pre-climb nutrition ahead of her attempt at Ben Nevis for our Make May Matter fundraiser.
While our CEO Sam has been carefully carb loading on the pasta front, Frances has bravely opted for the elite athlete combo of McDonald’s fries and an apple pie.
We’re not saying this is officially endorsed mountain-fuelling advice… but we say whatever boosts morale!
If you are Team Pie over Team Pasta, we know Frances would appreciate your support! She's aiming to raise £1,345 - that's £1 for every metre of Ben Nevis and you can sponsor her here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/frances-carr-3
