Recap of Commonwelath Secretary-General Shirley Botchwey’s Visit to Rwanda 🇷🇼
Commonwealth SG Shirley Botchwey concluded a productive working visit to Rwanda, accompanied by High Commissioner Busingye.
During her visit, the SG met with H.E. President Paul Kagame and engaged with key partners and institutions, including the Rwanda Development Board and Governance Rwanda.
Discussions focused on strengthening Rwanda’s engagement with the Commonwealth through trade, investment, and private sector collaboration.
A visit to Nyandungu Eco-Park also highlighted Rwanda’s commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action.
The visit reflected the strong partnership between Rwanda and the Commonwealth and a shared commitment to advancing prosperity and sustainable development.

With the Finals hosted in Kigali, Africa’s top basketball clubs came together to compete for continental glory. For the first time ever, a Rwandan club has claimed the title of African champions, a historic achievement for the Tigers and for Rwandan basketball. 👏

In Paris, President Paul Kagame and President Emmanuel Macron inaugurated a memorial honoring the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
This memorial stands as a tribute to the lives lost, a reminder of the importance of remembrance, and a commitment to ensuring that such atrocities never happen again.
