Many people diagnosed with schizophrenia have problems with memory and concentration, which can make everyday life harder. For a long time, these difficulties were seen as a fixed part of the illness that could not be improved. We now know that cognitive remediation, a type of therapy that helps people strengthen these thinking skills, can work well but it's adoption is minimal.
The next talk in the Maudsley Talks series will be given by Professor Dame Til Wykes, who is a Professor of Clinical Psychology and Rehabilitation at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London, and a consultant clinical psychologist at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. Professor Wykes will explore the topic 'Food for thought: Helping People with Psychosis Think More Clearly.'

And the doors are open!
Young people, donors, partners and colleagues from across the King’s Maudsley Partnership came together for a milestone moment in our journey into the Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People.
The Opening Door Ceremony was a celebration which brought together everyone who helped us to get here, from young people who helped shape the building’s design to the donors who made it possible.
The evening included a showcase of clinical and research work from across the Partnership, and a series of activities for guests of all ages to take part in, including learning how close up magic can help to improve communication skills, arts therapy, and a visual artist capturing the events of the night.
