County Councillor James Gamble

On Sunday I met with the Assistant High Commissioner for Bangladesh, alongside the Mansfield Elite 11 cricketers, volunteers and residents who ran a very successful community cricket event.

I attended the event with my Vice-Chair of the Nottinghamshire Pension Fund, Cllr Faz Choudhury, whose division is in Mansfield where the event was held.

The United Kingdom and Bangladesh share strong historic, cultural and economic ties. Today, Bangladesh is one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia, with growing trade, investment and business links connecting our two countries.

Cricket itself is a fantastic example of those shared connections. It was also great to discuss the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup fixture at Edgbaston, where Bangladesh will take on the Netherlands next week.

I was delighted to take part in some of the cricket activities during the day and to assist with the presentation of awards and trophies to players and participants. It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, talent and community spirit on display.

I look forward to future events and engagement with the Bangladesh High Commission.

Thank you to everyone involved in organising the event. The cricket was excellent, the atmosphere was fantastic and the meal afterwards was equally enjoyable.
