๐ฌ๐ง Surely there was a better way?
If the concern is safety, maintenance, or where flags are placed, fine โ letโs have that conversation.
But why jump straight to legal threats?
Why not:
โ
Agree designated display areas
โ
Create a simple permit system
โ
Work with community groups
โ
Set safety guidelines
Leadership is about solving problems, not escalating them.

Residents deserve clear answers.
๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟIf legal action is now being threatened over flags:
โ What changed since last year?
โ What evidence exists of safety risks?
โ How much will enforcement cost?
โ Who made this decision?
โ Was there public consultation?
These are fair questions.

๐ฌ๐ง Last year, Shropshire Council said it had โabsolutely no problemโ with patriotic residents flying national flags.
Now itโs threatening legal action.
So what changed?
Were there safety incidents?
Was infrastructure damaged?
Or has common sense simply left the building?

๐ช๐ฌ๐ง Out on the doorstep again!
Our Reform UK Shrewsbury campaign team were out speaking with residents in Battlefield and Old Heath โ not because thereโs an election around the corner, but because listening to local people and helping where we can should happen all year round.
Some of the key issues raised with us included:
๐ The Big Town Plan (BTP)
๐ Unregistered HMOs
๐ Potholes
๐ Anti-social behaviour
We had some really positive conversations and a great response from those who took the time to speak with us. In fact, quite a few residents were surprised to see a political team knocking on doors outside of election season!
But thatโs exactly how it should be. Local representation shouldnโt begin a few weeks before polling day and disappear the moment the votes are counted.
Weโre here to listen, to act where we can, and to be a visible presence in our communities.

Cllr Harry Hancock-Davies has been calling for Shropshire Council to have a Counter Fraud team since last year. It brings huge benefits and of course, benefits and protects those hard working, honest & vulnerable citizens who do the right thing.
The Liberal Democrats have pushed ahead with the proposal but theyโre delaying until 2027/28. A Counter Fraud team should be a statutory function and should be mandated across all Local Authorities.
Itโs time for some action instead of political ball play that protects the most vulnerable in our society and protects those hard working honest citizens.
Another failure by the Conservatives & Liberal Democrats.
Cllr Harry Hancock-Davies says "Iโm proud to have brought this forward and set the agenda on a Counter Fraud team for Shropshire to raise much needed revenue, protect public assets and stop people from taking advantage of other taxpayers."

Thank you to everyone who attended this weekโs Special General Meeting.
We are delighted to confirm that votes were cast and the first official branch officers of the Shrewsbury Branch of Reform UK have now been elected.
As we move forward, it is only right that we recognise the dedication, hard work, and commitment of our interim officers โ Brendan Mallon, Paul Lloyd, Adrian Owen, and Rob Adams โ who helped build the foundations of this branch during the 15-month pilot stage. Their efforts have brought us to this exciting point.
We are also pleased to welcome our newly elected branch team:
โ
Branch Chair โ Craig Sandiford
โ
Vice Chair โ Lee Gough
โ
Secretary โ Janet Walsh
โ
Campaign Manager โ Siobhan Connor
Our new team is already getting to work.
We continue to provide strong research support to our councillors, who are already building a reputation as a challenging and effective opposition. At the same time, our canvassing teams are beginning to take shape and are already active in the community, speaking with residents and listening to local concerns.
We are also working closely with other Reform UK branches to both offer and receive support as we continue strengthening the party locally and nationally.
Most encouraging of all, membership in Shrewsbury continues to grow at pace.
The hard work that began in February last year is now starting to bear fruit, and it truly is an exciting time to be part of Reform UK.
To every member who has written with messages of encouragement or offers of support โ thank you. It genuinely matters.
We have a big task ahead, a strong team in place, and a real determination to succeed.
If youโve thought about getting involved, want to learn more, or are simply curious about what weโre building here in Shrewsbury โ now is the time.
๐ฌ๐ง Join us. Support us. Be part of the change.
