It's not a sight you expect to see in the summer, but our gritting teams were out last night and remain on standby!
We are responding to the high temperatures on our road network by gritting to combat melting surfaces.
The gritting vehicles will spread light dusting of crushed stone, instead of the traditional salt, to absorb any bitumen that seeps to the surface during extremely high road surface temps.
We're continuing to review the situation on a daily basis. There may be some disruption during this period and you should take extra care when travelling in extreme temperatures.

A beautiful new sign has been put in place today at War Memorial Park, at the entrance to the car park.
We’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to the local resident who kindly donated the sign.
We’re very proud of War Memorial Park, and we’re sure you’ll agree that the sign is a fabulous addition.

🚔 Operation Snap: Helping Make Our Roads Safer
Many residents contact me about dangerous driving, speeding, drivers using mobile phones, and other poor behaviour on our roads.
What many people don't realise is that if you have clear footage from a dashcam, helmet camera, CCTV, or even a passenger-recorded mobile phone, you can submit it directly to West Mercia Police through Operation Snap.
Operation Snap allows officers to review footage of suspected driving offences and, where appropriate, take action against the driver.
Examples include:
📱 Using a mobile phone while driving
🚦 Failing to stop at red lights
⚠️ Dangerous or careless driving
🚗 Overtaking on solid white lines
🚴 Dangerous close passes of cyclists
🐎 Poor driving around horse riders
Road safety is everyone's responsibility. If you witness dangerous driving and have footage, don't just be frustrated by it. Report it.
Together we can help make Bromsgrove and Worcestershire's roads safer for everyone.
