We’ve written to the Secretary of State for Transport to urge the Government to include Northampton in passenger service plans for East West Rail.

Despite existing rail infrastructure already connecting to Northampton Gateway, there are currently no plans for passenger services – something we believe would leave our residents and businesses at a clear disadvantage.

With major decisions on future rail services approaching, and the planned Universal UK resort near Bedford set to become one of Europe’s biggest visitor destinations, now is the time to act.

With temperatures set to soar this weekend, don’t forget to look after your four-legged friends too 🐾

The heat can be tough on pets, so make sure they have plenty of water, a cool place to rest, and are kept out of direct sun during the hottest parts of the day.

Make the most of the sunshine this weekend and look after yourself while you’re at it ☀️

It might sound like common sense, but hot weather can affect people differently. Each year, we see more cases of sunburn, dehydration, heat exhaustion and other issues that can often be avoided with a few simple steps.

✅ Keep topped up with water throughout the day
✅ Protect your skin with sunscreen and seek shade when possible
✅ Limit time in direct sun during the hottest part of the day (12–3pm)

Planning a clear-out? Please do not leave items next to a charity donation bank like this. If there's no room in the bank please find another one, donate them to a shop, or hold on to them until the bank is emptied.

You can also recycle clothing and a range of other household items quickly and easily by booking a free doorstop collection with our partners Anglo Recycling, or book a visit to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Leaving donations on the floor like this helps no one - certainly not the charity, who are unlikely to be able to use items left open to the elements like this. It is also fly-tipping, for which you could be fined up to £1,000 or prosecuted.

We’re reviewing adult social care services at locations in West Northamptonshire including Obelisk House, Southfields, Eleanor Lodge, Gladstone Road, Olympus House, Towcester Forum, Longlands in Daventry and the Cottages.

Illegal to***co and v**e products have been seized from three shops in Northampton and Daventry following a multi-agency operation by our Trading Standards Team and Neighbourhood Wardens.

During the visits, officers discovered hidden storage areas — including one behind an electric-powered wall and another concealed within hinged shelving.

🔎 In total, officers seized 616 packets of illicit ci******es, 26 pouches (1.3kg) of illegal hand-rolling to***co, 26 illegal v**es

All seized items will now be destroyed.

As we support the Royal Life Saving Society’s , we’re reminding everyone to stay out of open water in our parks.

It might look calm and inviting, but hidden dangers can turn a quick dip into a life-threatening situation:

🌊 Strong currents or weeds that can trap even strong swimmers
🚫 No lifeguards – help isn’t always immediately available

We know it can be tempting on a warm day, but entering the water is never worth the risk.

✅Enjoying water views without entering
✅Looking out for friends and encouraging safe choices
