🌸 Northampton is blooming! 🌸

Northampton is looking brighter than ever as hundreds of colourful hanging baskets and planters transform the town centre and surrounding neighbourhoods ahead of this year’s 🌺 East Midlands in Bloom 🌺 competition.

After securing a prestigious Silver Gilt Award last year, Northampton Town Council is proudly funding and entering the competition once again, competing against towns and cities from across the region in one of Europe’s largest horticultural campaigns.

This year’s display has been enhanced thanks to support from the Northampton Town Centre BID, whose contribution has helped provide additional planters along Gold Street and throughout the expanded BID area—bringing even more colour, vibrancy and pride to Northampton for residents, visitors and businesses alike.

Enjoy a performance from the Moulton 77 Brass Band at Abington Park Bandstand today between 2 and 5pm, as part of our Bands in the Park season.

Enjoy traditional brass band music in the peaceful surroundings of the park every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday until the end of September.

Northampton Carnival 2026 🎉 returns to The Racecourse on Saturday 13th June 2026 for one of the town's biggest annual community celebrations and everyone is invited!

The event opens at 12pm at Racecourse Park, with the colourful Carnival Parade leaving at 2pm and travelling through Northampton town centre before returning to the park for an afternoon of celebration, music and community spirit.

On Friday 29th May, we marked Northampton's historic Oak Apple Day at All Saints' Church, Northampton

The annual thanksgiving event, held to commemorate King Charles II’s support of the town following the Great Fire of Northampton in 1675, included a church service, civic procession and wreathing ceremony featuring a historic re-enactment from The Mystery Tours and music performed by Sennet Brass Ensemble

The oak wreath was placed on the statue of Charles II in commemoration, which stands high on the All Saints’ portico. Oak Apple Day has been observed in Northampton for more than 350 years and remains a significant part of the town’s ceremonial calendar.
