🌞 June Solstice 🌞

Today marks the June Solstice — the moment when the Northern Hemisphere tilts closest to the sun, bringing us the longest day of the year and the official start of summer. It’s a point in the calendar that people have observed for thousands of years, often as a time to pause, take stock, and notice the changing rhythm of the natural world around us.

Here in our parish, the lighter evenings, blooming hedgerows, and warm weather offer a chance to enjoy our green spaces, spend time outdoors, and appreciate the landscape that makes our community special. For some, the solstice is a moment of celebration; for others, it’s simply a quiet reminder of the turning seasons and the steady return of light.

Whether you mark the day with tradition, reflection, time with family, or simply by enjoying a peaceful walk, we send warm wishes to everyone in the parish. May the longer days ahead bring brightness, connection, and a sense of calm as summer begins.

If you are a father, have lost a father, are yearning to be one, have lost a child, are a step‑father, a foster father, a guardian, a fur‑father, or relate to any other kind of fatherly role — we send warm Father’s Day wishes to you.

Fatherhood looks different for everyone. For some it’s a day of joy and celebration; for others it can be a moment of reflection, sadness, or mixed feelings.

However you connect with today, we send warm wishes to everyone in the parish.

Unfortunately, there has been further vandalism to the newly installed Mini Library at Spratton Road Wellbeing Park.

We understand how disappointing this is, particularly for residents and for the Brixworth Climate Action Group members who have supported and championed the Wellbeing Park project. It’s disheartening to see the actions of a few impact a space and facility intended for everyone to enjoy.

🕋 Muharram – The Islamic New Year 🕋

Muharram begins at sunset on Thursday 16 July 2026, marking the start of the Islamic New Year and one of the four sacred months in the Islamic calendar. It is a time of reflection, peace, and renewal for many in our community.

Within this month, the Day of Ashura — which will fall on Saturday 26 July 2026 — holds deep significance. It is a day observed for remembrance, gratitude, and reflection, marking both the deliverance of Prophet Moses and the martyrdom of Imam Husayn ibn Ali at Karbala, a moment of profound spiritual meaning for many Muslims.

As this sacred month begins, we extend warm wishes to all who are observing. May Muharram bring peace, understanding, and unity across our diverse community.
