Our Borough Councillor Debbie Soloman - RBC has launched a petition to gather opinions and support from residents to oppose the proposed amalgamation of the two existing bus stops into just one on the A52, that would serve the communities of Upper Saxondale, Harlequin and St James Business Park.
Thereโs more detail in Debbieโs post along with a link to the petition.
๐ SAVE OUR BUS STOPS โ SIGN THE PETITION ๐
Plans linked to the Spitfire Homes development would see two existing A52 bus stops (RU0474 and RU0593) amalgamated into one stop and moved further away from existing communities.
This would mean longer walks for residents of Upper Saxondale, the Harlequin, and employees at St James Business Park, particularly impacting older residents and those with mobility difficulties.
We're not opposing development โ we're asking for a better solution:
โ
Keep RU0593 where it is to continue serving Harlequin residents.
โ
Move RU0474 closer to the new Saxondale Drive junction.
โ
Retain safe and accessible public transport for existing communities.
โ
Still provide excellent bus access for the new Spitfire Homes development within recommended walking distances.
We believe there is a solution that works for existing residents, new residents and public transport users alike.
Please sign and share the petition to help protect accessible bus services on the A52.
As your local Borough Councillor, I've launched this petition with the support of Cllr Roger Upton to ensure our existing communities are not disadvantaged by these proposals. Please do sign and share.

Anyone lost a set of keys? These had been sitting on top of the little junction box near the post box for over a week although now moved to keep them safe. If they are yours let us know.

The village noticeboards by the post box on Westminster Drive and bus turning circle on Henson Lane, are getting new backboards. So all the notices have been removed in readiness for the work starting on Monday. But all the Parish Council and Community notices are still available on the newer noticeboard by the village hall car park.
We've popped this notice on the glazed side of each of the two noticeboards so no-one thinks the notices have been 'stolen'! ๐ณ

A printed copy on the noticeboards by the postbox on Westminster Drive and the turning circle on Henson Lane will be available on Tuesday. The delay is because the backboards on these two noticeboards are being replaced on Monday so all notices are being removed over the weekend in readiness for contractors to carry out the work.
