We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Linda Hendry as she steps down from her role on the We Are Peterhead Board after more than two years of dedicated service, representing SURF (Scotland’s Regeneration Forum).
During her time on the Board, Linda played an important role in ensuring that the voices of local groups and communities were heard. Working closely with organisations across Peterhead, she helped identify gaps in support and resources, connecting groups with funding and opportunities for growth. She was also instrumental in helping keep communities informed and engaged with consultations, developments, and regeneration plans.
Reflecting on her time with the Board, Linda highlighted both the progress made and the challenges encountered, including changes to funding criteria and wider shifts at UK Government level. She joined the Board through her role with SURF, bringing a strong commitment to representing the wider community and the vital work of third-sector organisations in the town.
Linda commented: “As I step down after more than two years as a board member of We Are Peterhead, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the work that has been done so far. Behind the scenes we have had to navigate significant challenges, including changes to funding criteria and several changes in UK Government, as this is a UK Government-funded programme. I would encourage everyone in Peterhead to continue engaging with and supporting the board as the plan moves forward. I look forward to watching its development and delivery over the next eight years. We must remember that meaningful and lasting change does not happen overnight, but with continued commitment and collaboration, I am confident we will see positive outcomes for our community.”
Jim Buchan (We Are Peterhead Board Chair) said:
“I would like to thank Linda for her valuable contribution, her commitment to community-led regeneration, and her passion for Peterhead. We wish her every success in the future.”

Last week, members of the We Are Peterhead Board came together for a productive meeting focused on the continued development and enhancement of our town.
Key discussions centred around the delivery of upcoming project proposals, including a Town Centre Deep Clean initiative and a review (and potential upgrade) of CCTV provision. These projects are aimed at improving the overall environment, safety, and experience for everyone who lives in, works in, and visits Peterhead.
The Board remains committed to working collaboratively with partners and the community to drive forward positive change and ensure Peterhead continues to thrive.

If someone was visiting Peterhead for the weekend …
Where would you take them first? A walk along the harbour? Coastal paths? The Prison Museum? Golf, the Brewery, the Lido – or somewhere only locals know about?
No one knows Peterhead better than the people who live here.
There are also plenty of ideas on the ‘Things To Do’ page of our website.
📍 Where would you suggest visiting first?

Record Breaking Year for Port!
You are likely to have seen the news that Peterhead Port reported record fish landings during 2025. An increase of £84m to £341m ensures we still hold the position as the UK’s top fishing port.
This is a very positive reminder of the importance of fishing in our Blue Toon and the hard work and resilience it takes to increase revenue consistently year on year.
Thank you to the amazing team at Peterhead Port Authority.

Below is a great video of the Netball Festival that Peterhead Netball Club's ran last year. You'll hear from Lorraine, one of our associate board members, about how the event helped raise netball as a sport and how it's something fun and healthy for everyone.
As part of We Are Peterhead's initial 4-year investment plan, we want to support projects and activities which improve spaces for sport and physical activity, and increase youth participation and multi-generational connections - the same type of positive impacts that Peterhead Netball have demonstrated can be achieved locally.
