A wet Friday evening in didn't dampen our spirits as the Liberal Democrat team were out knocking doors and speaking with residents again. A few issues picked up, some kind words of encouragement, and many people saying they will be backing the Liberal Democrats in this year's local elections in May 🙂

Had a great time at the Fratton lantern parade tonight. Even got to wear a high vis as I was volunteering, helping marshall the parade and manage the other volunteers.

This evening Councillor Dave Ashmore & I helped steward at the annual Lantern Parade, as part of the Fratton Big Local Festival of Lights.
Fantastic to see the lanterns that people had made over the last few weeks, and being part of the parade down Fratton Road to St. Mary's Church.
Lots of fun for the local community! A big thank you to all who volunteered to help and organise this 😀

Spent Saturday speaking with more residents and delivering our latest Liberal Democrat Focus newsletter in the area.
Lots of positive conversations on the doorsteps and logging some issues to help with. People have been grateful for the work that we've been pushing for to allow them to have their say on a Residents Parking Zone. Thanks to everyone who came along and helped out today.

So pleased to hear that the Council's two, free fireworks displays are still going ahead tonight - looks like the bad weather will be moving in shortly after so please take care if you're out and about in high winds.
🎆Portsmouth firework display update🎆
Based on the current weather forecast, we're pleased to confirm that the annual firework displays will still go ahead on Wednesday 1 November, but with some changes. We will be closely monitoring the changing weather conditions, so please check back before travelling to the event on our social channels or visit www.portsmouth.gov.uk/preparing-portsmouth-for-storm-ciaran
🎇Southsea Common
A 20-minute display will take place from 7pm - 7:20pm. Additional entertainment and live music has been cancelled, but there will still be food & beverage options.
🎇Alexandra Park
There is a slightly reduced fireworks display, which will still take place from 7pm. Additional entertainment and live music has been cancelled, but there will still be food & beverage options.
🚍 Please use the Park & Ride service for Alexandra Park, avoid driving to the event and parking locally. This will be the safest route to the display. You can also use the Park and Ride service if you are planning on walking to the event, it will take approx. 8 minutes and there will be marshals along the route to guide you.
⚠ For your safety, please dress appropriately for the weather and ground conditions. We ask that you please make your way home following the firework display, the winds are due to pick up later into the evening.
