โ๏ธ With temperatures rising, we're reminding our Shared Lives carers and the people they support to take simple steps to stay safe and comfortable during the hot weather.
๐ง Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day
๐ Keep curtains, blinds and windows closed where the sun is strongest
โ๏ธ Spend time in the coolest areas of your home
๐ถ Avoid strenuous activity and try to stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm
โ ๏ธ Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke and seek help if needed
๐ Make sure medicines are stored according to the manufacturer's instructions
๐ Review support and contingency plans in case the heat affects normal routines
Please check in on friends, family members and others who may be more vulnerable during periods of extreme heat.
Stay safe, stay cool and look after one another. โค๏ธ

Hi everyone. As we come to the end of Shared Lives Week, we want to take a moment to thank all our Shared Lives carers for the incredible work you do every single day. The care, stability, and kindness you provide make a real difference to the people you support, and we are truly grateful.
Itโs also important to recognise the amazing people we support. Their individuality, strengths, humour, and resilience are at the heart of our Shared Lives community. They make our work meaningful, and it has been wonderful seeing them enjoy the weekโs activities.
Itโs been a fantastic week of celebrating you all. Thank you to everyone who joined our activities, Fun City on Tuesday, the coffee morning on Wednesday, and the relaxing picnic and garden activities at Ashfield Gardens yesterday. It was lovely to see so many of you, and lovely to see new carer applicants joining us and getting a feel for Shared Lives.
As mental health and wellbeing are so important, we are also sharing via WhatsApp a helpful webinar link: Calming the Anxious Mind โ Health and Wellbeing. Please feel free to listen whenever it suits you.
Thank you again for everything you do. Happy Shared Lives Week and wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Shared Lives is all about connection and community ๐ฌ
This week has been a great reminder of how important it is just getting people together and spending time with each other.
We had a brilliant trip to Fun City โ lots of laughter, a bit of chaos, and plenty of encouragement as people tried things they might not usually go for. It was just nice to see everyone relaxing and having a good time together.
Our coffee morning was a slower pace, but just as important. It gave people a chance to sit down, have a chat and catch up โ carers, families and the people we support all in one space, getting to know each other a bit better.
We also made the most of the weather with a picnic at Ashfield Gardens. Simple, but really enjoyable โ good food, fresh air, and good company. Those kinds of days always bring people together without any pressure.
None of this happens without the people we support, along with carers and families getting involved and supporting each other. Itโs what makes Shared Lives what it is.
