Today, the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, joined health sector leaders, traditional authorities, and community members in the Volta Region to officially launch Ghana’s flagship Free Primary Healthcare initiative in the region. The programme is a key component of the Government of Ghana’s health sector reset agenda, aimed at expanding access to preventive and promotive healthcare services, strengthening community-based care, and bringing quality healthcare closer to communities across the country.

Ghana has highlighted significant progress in strengthening health security and pandemic preparedness at a high-level international conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, demonstrating the country’s growing capacity to prevent, detect and respond to public health threats. The Ghana Health Service, Led by its Director-General, Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, shared the country’s achievements in disease surveillance, laboratory strengthening, emergency preparedness, workforce development, and risk communication, and further reaffirmed its commitment to building resilient health systems through global partnerships and collaboration.
