GNFS INTENSIFIES FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION IN EASTERN REGION

‎The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Eastern Region has stepped up fire safety education, compliance inspections, and emergency preparedness programmes across communities, schools, businesses, and institutions to reduce fire outbreaks and enhance public safety.

‎In Suhum, fire officers conducted a two-day compliance inspection exercise, assessing fire safety measures in homes and shops while inspecting fire extinguishers for validity, accessibility, and operational readiness. Similar public education campaigns were carried out in Effiduase and Abetifi APSEC, where residents, traders, food vendors, tailors, and households were sensitized on fire prevention, safe LPG and electrical appliance use, proper storage of flammable materials, and emergency response procedures.

‎Meanwhile, Aburi Fire Station educated management and staff of Transquillus Eco-Lodge on fire prevention, emergency response, equipment maintenance, and safety procedures, culminating in a practical fire drill. At Akropong, officers educated students of Salem Presbyterian JHS on the fire triangle, common causes of fire outbreaks, basic firefighting techniques, and the STOP, DROP and ROLL safety procedure.

‎The various outreach programmes form part of GNFS's ongoing commitment to promoting a culture of fire safety, strengthening community resilience, and empowering residents with the knowledge needed to protect lives and property across the Eastern Region.
