Happy Juneteenth! 🇺🇸 Today commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas, and announced to more than 250,000 enslaved African Americans that they were free — a pivotal moment in the dismantling of slavery in the United States.
In observance of this U.S. federal holiday, the U.S. Consulate General Hong Kong and Macau is closed today. U.S. citizens in need of urgent assistance can visit our website for emergency consular services at https://hk.usconsulate.gov/contact/

✈️🇺🇸🇭🇰 On April 28, 1937, the Pan American Hong Kong Clipper arrived in Hong Kong, completing the first transpacific journey from the United States. The flight marked a major milestone in aviation history and helped bring the United States and Asia closer together.
