Born and raised in Hong Kong, Shalini reflects on growing up as a Hong Kong Indian woman, navigating questions of identity, race, gender and belonging, and how the devastating loss of her young son, Zubin, inspired a life's work dedicated to reducing suffering and creating opportunities for Hong Kong's ethnically diverse communities.

In her conversation with Cruzanne, Shalini shares powerful insights on privilege, education, forced marriage, mental health, raising compassionate children, and why building a more inclusive society begins with seeing one another and choosing to act.
