【🧐 DID YOU KNOW Ep 3 – Early Society Logos | 早期系會會徽 🛡️】

Did you know that HKBC's academic societies already had their own logos over 60 years ago? Look closely, and you'll see how many of these designs cleverly reflect the identity of their departments. Some societies even produced metal pins for members to wear!

From Sports Day flags to Student Festival booths, these logos popped up everywhere back in the day, becoming a cherished part of HKBU's collective memory📸. You can spot them throughout our historical photographs on the newly launched HKBU TimeScap️e! 🕵️

Greater Painted-snipe: Breaking Traditional Breeding Style🧑‍🍼

彩鷸的超反差育兒術：女主外　男主內 ✨🧑‍🍼

👨‍👧‍👦 Happy Father's Day! What do you admire most about your dad? And did you know that there's also a truly admirable "model dad" in the bird world! 🫡

🎨 In nature, male birds typically possess vibrant plumage, while females are relatively plain—but the Greater Painted-snipe completely overturns this pattern. The female is larger, with exceptionally vibrant plumage, a deep chestnut-red neck, and olive-brown wings. In stark contrast, the male appears simple, covered entirely in brown feathers.

🍼 Besides their appearances, their parenting methods completely overturn traditional gender roles.🪺 During the breeding season, the female will attract the male to mate and lay eggs, after which they will leave to find new mates. Meanwhile, the responsibility of raising the chicks will fall on the male. They will stay with his children until they learn to survive independently.🐣

🌾 Greater Painted-snipe typically inhabits wetlands and marshes. 彩鷸的超反差育兒術：女主外　男主內 ✨🧑‍🍼

👨‍👧‍👦 父親節將至，你最感激爸爸的一點是什麼呢？是他的默默守護，還是他為你遮風擋雨的肩膀？🌧️🌀 你知不知道鳥界也有一位值得尊敬的「模範奶爸」？🫡

🎨 在大自然的鳥類世界中，通常是雄鳥擁有鮮豔的羽毛，雌鳥則相對樸素，但彩鷸卻恰恰相反。雌鳥體型較大，擁有擁有深栗紅色的頸部與橄欖褐色的背翼；而雄鳥的外表則大致呈褐色，十分低調平實。

🍼 除了外型反差，彩鷸的育兒分工也顛覆了傳統。🪺 在繁殖季節，雌鳥以華麗羽翼吸引雄鳥，交配產卵後便會離去；而孵蛋與育雛的重任，則由雄鳥獨自扛起。這位「鳥界主夫」會守著鳥巢，直到雛鳥學會生存。🐣

Most of us would agree that American journalism has problems. Rushed reporting and thin coverage. Timidity in the face of adversity. Polarized perspectives and euphemistic language. Groupthink about complicated events. While much blame has been levelled at big tech, Barbie Zelizer traces the decline of American journalism to the Cold War. She makes the bold claim that Cold War-era practices are to blame for the state of journalism today, undermining a once trusted media environment.

【永遠懷念戲劇大師——鍾景輝博士 | In Memoriam: Dr Chung King Fai】

香港浸會大學圖書館對著名戲劇大師鍾景輝博士辭世深表哀悼，並向其家屬、朋友及學生致以最深切的慰問。

鍾博士與浸大淵源深厚，是無數學子在戲劇路上的啟蒙恩師。1962年，他學成歸來後便加入浸會書院外文系任教，並積極推動校內戲劇發展。他不僅出任劇社顧問，帶領學生公演《淘金夢》、《小城風光》等經典劇目為校籌款，更開辦了香港首個大專戲劇課程，為本地戲劇教育開創先河。即使投身電視界後公務繁重，他仍堅持在學院兼教戲劇近二十載，培育無數後進。

鍾博士一生奉獻舞台，見證並推動了香港戲劇逾半世紀的發展。本館衷心感謝鍾博士生前的信任，將畢生珍藏的劇場文獻與個人檔案交託予我們。浸大圖書館定必悉心守護這批珍貴史料，讓鍾博士對戲劇的熱愛與堅持，透過他留下的文獻與作品世代流傳，啟迪後人。

Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) Library is deeply saddened by the passing of legendary theatre veteran Dr Chung King Fai. We extend our most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and students.

Dr Chung shared a profound bond with HKBU and served as a guiding light for countless students pursuing the dramatic arts. Upon returning from his studies in 1962, he joined Hong Kong Baptist College as a lecturer in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature, where he became a driving force for theatre on campus. Serving as the advisor to the Dramatics Club, he directed students in fundraising performances of classics such as Death of a Salesman and Our Town. Furthermore, he spearheaded local drama education by establishing Hong Kong’s very first tertiary-level drama course. Even after transitioning to a highly demanding career in television, he continued to teach drama part-time at the College for nearly two decades, nurturing generations of emerging talent.

Dedicating his life to the stage, Dr Chung played a pivotal role in shaping the evolution of Hong Kong theatre for over half a century. The Library is profoundly grateful for his trust in donating his lifelong collection of theatrical archives and personal papers to our care. HKBU Library will always remain steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding these invaluable historical materials. Through these archives, Dr Chung’s unwavering passion and dedication to the theatre will live on, continuing to inspire generations to come.

📚 As an HKBU student, do you know which places near campus are worth visiting? With summer here, check out this sustainable tourism guide designed by our HKBU students and explore Kowloon City! 🚶🏻🚶🏻‍♀️💚

📍 When it comes to Kowloon City, the Walled City Park is a must-visit for most tourists. But do you know with which Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) it aligns? ⚠️ Kowloon Walled City Park was originally a cluster of illegal buildings, notorious for its poor sanitation, high crime rate, and high population density. 🌳 Today, it has been transformed into a public green space, providing a place for citizens to relax. 📜 Meanwhile, the authorities have properly preserved the related historical sites within the park, preserving Hong Kong's cultural heritage. This perfectly aligns with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. ✨
