In the dark days of the 2020 Delhi violence, Firdous lost her husband to a brutal mob lynching. In a single moment, a mother of two was left alone to carry a lifetime of grief. Her younger son, Moosa, was just one year old — too small to understand the loss, yet destined to grow up in its shadow.

When we visited her home during Ramadan to deliver ration kits, we saw more than poverty — we saw quiet resilience wrapped in pain. In our conversation, we learned about the children’s interrupted education and the uncertainty clouding their future.

We could not walk away. The children were immediately enrolled under Shaagird, so that their father’s absence would not steal their dreams too.

This Ramadan, you can become the reason their story changes. Help us find a compassionate educational mentor for Firdous’s children — someone who can replace despair with opportunity, and loss with hope.

A heartbreaking journey to Shamli, where ‘Miles to Smile’ revisited the families affected by violence. We met the family of Naushad Sahab, whose livelihood was rebuilt through the ‘Aasra’ program. Tragically, he passed away 5 months ago, unable to overcome the grief of losing his son at just 21-22 years old. The pain is palpable. This reminds us of the fragility of life and the need for continued support

From fear to future. 🤍
Every child deserves a classroom where dreams are rebuilt, not broken.
Education is not just learning — it is healing, dignity, and hope.

When someone is jailed in a false case,
the punishment does not stop at the prison gates —
it silently shifts to their family.
Children struggle to stay in school.
Homes begin to run out of essentials.
Mothers carry both financial and emotional burdens alone.
Dastgir – Prisoners’ Families Initiative stands with these families in their most vulnerable moments.

This Ramadan, your Zakat is helping us support affected families in Tripura —
ensuring children continue their education,
homes have monthly essentials,
and mothers do not have to knock on doors asking for help.
Because when justice is delayed,
support cannot be.
And dignity must always be protected.
