The Parliamentary Committee on the Welfare of SCs and STs, under the Chairmanship of Dr. Faggan Singh Kulaste, MP, held discussions with the Additional Chief Secretary and other senior officials of the State Government of Tamil Nadu regarding socio-economic and educational conditions of SCs & STs and other welfare measures undertaken by the Social Welfare/Tribal Departments on 5.06.2026 at Ooty.

The Committee also undertook visit to Toda village at Ooty to oversee their socio-economic and educational conditions alongwith welfare schemes, followed by a meeting with the District Administration/Social Welfare/Tribal Departments.

The Joint Committee on Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhisthan Bill, 2025 headed by Dr. Daggubati Purandeswari, MP, during their study Visit to Mumbai on 4 June 2026, heard the perspectives of key stakeholders. In the first half, the Committee engaged their interactions with representatives from the State Government of Maharashtra, University of Mumbai, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai, NIT Goa, IIIT Vadodara, IIM Mumbai, VNIT Nagpur, as well as officials from the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

At their sitting held today, the Committee on Labour, Textiles and Skill Development took briefing/oral evidence of the representatives of the Ministry of Labour & Employment on the following subjects:

i) Present stage of implementation of Labour Codes in the country;
ii) Conducting of Indian Labour Conference;
iii) Implementation of prescribed minimum Wages in various Employment Sectors; and
iv) Current employment situation in the country:

The Chairperson, Shri Basavaraj Bommai, MP, presided.

The Committee also took oral evidence from representatives of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on the subject ‘Implementation of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0.’

Today, representatives from the Ministry of Education (Department of Higher Education) briefed the Committee on Estimates, Chaired by Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, MP, on the subject “Challenges in the functioning of newly established Central Universities in the Country.”
