سعى وزير الخارجية الألمانية يوهان فاديفول خلال محادثاته في نيويورك إلى حشد الدعم لترشح ألمانيا 🇩🇪 للحصول على مقعد غير دائم في مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة 🇺🇳 لعامي 2027 / 2028. وفي الثالث من حزيران/يونيو ستصوّت الجمعية العامة على ذلك. وتتنافس ألمانيا على عضوية مجلس الأمن مع كل من النمسا 🇦🇹 والبرتغال 🇵🇹.

ولهذا التقى فاديفول بعدد من سفراء الدول المختلفة في الأمم المتحدة. كذلك ناقش خلا تواجده في "بيت ألمانيا" مع دبلوماسيين “التحديات الحالية التي تواجه التعددية”. وتضمّن برنامجه أيضاً إلقاء خطاب أمام ممثلي المجموعة الأفريقية في الأمم المتحدة. وخلال حفل استقبال، قدّم فاديفول فيديو بعنوان «أكثر من مجرد مقعد».

وجاء في الفيديو: “نحن مستعدون لنأخذ مكاننا من أجل الوقوف إلى جانب الاحترام والعدالة والسلام”. وتُعد هذه المبادئ الركائز الأساسية للترشح الألماني. كما تدعو ألمانيا 🇩🇪 إلى إصلاح منظومة الأمم المتحدة بهدف ضمان تمثيل أفضل للدول الأصغر أيضاً.

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul sought to rally support during talks in New York for Germany’s 🇩🇪 bid to secure a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council 🇺🇳 for 2027/2028. The UN General Assembly is set to vote on the matter on June 3. Germany is competing for a Security Council seat alongside Austria 🇦🇹 and Portugal 🇵🇹.

As part of the effort, Wadephul met with ambassadors from various countries at the United Nations 🌍. At the German House, he also discussed “the current challenges facing multilateralism” with diplomats. His program additionally included a speech before representatives of the African Group at the UN. During a reception, Wadephul presented a video titled “More Than Just a Seat.”

The video stated: “We are ready to take our place in standing for respect, justice, and peace.” These principles form the core pillars of Germany’s candidacy. Germany 🇩🇪 is also calling for reform of the UN system to ensure better representation for smaller countries as well.
