The Social Health Authority (SHA) has reached an advanced stage in the establishment of the National Ambulance Dispatch Centre ahead of the rollout of the Emergency Evacuation Services Programme.

During a high-level review meeting chaired by Cabinet Secretary for Health Hon. Aden Duale, the Authority highlighted progress made in dispatch systems installation, ambulance accreditation, staffing, systems testing and operational preparedness.

SHA is finalising key technical and operational requirements, including systems integration, specialised installations and validation of implementation timelines.

More than 100 ambulances have already been accredited following compliance assessments, with ongoing efforts to expand coverage across all counties.

Recruitment and training of dispatch personnel have also been completed, with additional simulation drills planned to strengthen readiness ahead of launch.

To support implementation, SHA is preparing a nationwide public awareness campaign in collaboration with county governments, healthcare providers and local administration structures.

Once operational, the Emergency Evacuation Services Programme and National Ambulance Dispatch Centre are expected to enhance coordinated, timely and equitable access to emergency medical services across the country
