Photos from Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre's post 30/05/2026

Day 3 of the Madaraka Day 2026 Pre-Celebrations Exhibition at Wagberi Primary School, Wajir County
KAGRC, led by the Managing Director - Dr. Benadatte Misoi alongside the Head of Directorate of Extension Services Mr. David Sang, the Principal Extension Officer- Dr. Paul Juma, and the North Eastern Sales Representative – Wario Kana, continues to engage farmers and stakeholders on livestock genetic improvement, Artificial Insemination (AI), and sexed semen technologies.
A highlight of Day 2 was a visit by the Head of Presidential Special Projects- Mr. Denis Itumbi, who held discussions with the KAGRC team on expanding AI services in Wajir and other ASAL Counties. The drought resilient breed of cattle including Jersey for cross breeding, Boran, Sahiwal, Magic 50 and goat breeds, were highlighted. KAGRC presented the challenge of limited access to Liquid Nitrogen (LN₂), a critical input for AI services, and proposed the installation of solar-powered mini LN₂ production plants at an estimated cost of KSh 20–30 million per unit to support sustainable livestock breeding programmes in the region.
KAGRC remains committed to delivering quality animal genetics and innovative breeding solutions to transform livestock production across Kenya.
