Ministry of Law and Order was established on 16th August 2013 by the Gazette Notification (Extraordinary) No.1823/70.

Formulation of policies, programmes and projects in relation to the subjects of Law & Order and Sothern Development and subjects that come under the purview of Police Department, National Dangerous Drugs Control Board, Galle Heritage with a view to building a disciplined Country and such other National Policies that may be adopted by the Government.
