We, the Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), gathered in Cebu, Philippines, on 8 May 2026, for the 48th ASEAN Summit under the Chairship of the Republic of the Philippines. The Summit was chaired by H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, and convened in accordance with the ASEAN Charter.

We reaffirmed our support for the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship in 2026 under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” which reflects our collective resolve to steer ASEAN proactively and cohesively through an evolving regional and global landscape.

Ambassador Leslie Baja, non-resident ambassador of the Philippines to Guinea based in Morocco, visited Conakry on 5 May 2026 and conducted bilateral meetings with key Guinean officials led by Foreign Minister Morissanda Kouyate. Ambassador Baja emphasized the importance of Guinea to the Philippines and proposed a number of initiatives that will strengthen ties leading to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the two countries’ bilateral relations in 2030.

Foreign Minister Kouyate welcomed the Ambassador’s visit and expressed support for the Embassy’s initiatives not just in Guinea but also in the African continent and in international organizations like the United Nations. Both officials expressed the belief that the current state of bilateral relations, firmly anchored on shared historical and democratic values, will augur well for the two countries in the future. The Commission on Filipinos Overseas is pleased to inform the public that 𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 for the 2026 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas (PAFIOO) from 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲).

The PAFIOO is a biennial search to honor and recognize overseas Filipinos and other individuals or organizations who contribute to Philippine development initiatives or promote the cause and interest of the Filipino diaspora/overseas Filipino communities.

The awards are also given to overseas Filipinos who have notably excelled in their professions and have brought pride to the Filipino nation. Additionally, there is a specific category for foreign individuals or organizations that have made exceptional contributions to the Philippines and advanced the causes of overseas Filipino communities.

Since its establishment in 1991, the seven Presidents of the Republic of the Philippines have given the awards to 555 individuals and organizations from 55 countries and territories.

Nominees have the opportunity to apply for any of the 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 available.

1. 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗽𝘄𝗮 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 (𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗞𝗔𝗣𝗜𝗟) 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 – conferred on overseas Filipino individuals or organizations for their significant contributions to the development of a particular sector/local community in the Philippines.

2. 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗮𝗴 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 - This award is conferred on overseas Filipino individuals or organizations for their significant contributions in the host country that have benefited and advanced the cause and interest of the Filipino diaspora/overseas Filipino community.

3. 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 - conferred on overseas Filipino individuals who, in exemplifying the talent and industry of the Filipino, have brought the country honor and recognition through excellence and distinction in the pursuit of their work or profession.

4. 𝗞𝗮𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗯 𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 – conferred only for foreign individuals (natural-born) or foreign organizations for their significant contributions to Philippine development or a particular sector/local community in the country and for advancing the cause of the Filipino diaspora/overseas Filipino community.

All nominations shall be coursed through the Embassy of the Philippines or the Philippine Consulate General, which has jurisdiction over the place of residence, work, or operations of the individual or organization nominee for review and endorsement. Original copy of the duly 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗱 nominations and supporting documents must be submitted not later than 𝟮𝟵 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲) to:
