📣 Quick action can save a child’s life! Knowing the basic steps of first aid and CPR can be the difference between life and death. 🌊
1. Remove the child from the water safely and call for help immediately.
2. Check if the child is responsive and breathing.
3. If the child is not breathing normally, call emergency services or ask someone nearby to call.
4.Begin CPR immediately, starting with 5 rescue breaths.
5. Continue CPR with 30 chest compressions followed by 2 rescues breaths. *
6. Place the heel of one hand in the centre of the chest and press down around 1/3 the depth of the child’s chest at a rate of 100-120 compression per minute.
*If you are trained in paediatric basic life saving the ratio you should follow is 15 compressions to 2 rescue breaths (15:2)
7. Continue CPR until the child starts breathing or help arrives.
