SORA|| The Oshana Governor, Hofni Iipinge this morning delivered the State of the Region Address (SORA) for the 2025/2026 financial year in accordance with Article 110A of the Constitution of the Republic of Namibia.

The SORA provides an opportunity to reflect on the state of the region, account for the work undertaken during the 2025/2026 financial year, celebrate achievements, acknowledge the challenges the region continues to face, and outline the priority areas of focus for the year ahead.

Iipinge stated that the region continues to play a significant role in driving economic activity, facilitating trade, providing healthcare and educational services, and serving as a gateway for investment and innovation. He added that the region has recorded notable achievements in governance, infrastructure development, economic growth, social welfare, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and community development.

Among the key achievements recorded during the financial year under review are:

- A 13% reduction in reported crime, from 11,804 cases in 2024/25 to 10,267 cases in 2025/26.
- A 12% reduction in gender-based violence (GBV) cases, from 759 cases in 2024/25 to 670 cases in 2025/26.
- Agribank invested approximately N$2.8 million in agricultural projects in northern Namibia, including Oshana Region.
- A total of 120 permanent jobs and 1,681 temporary jobs were created across the region through various projects.
- The Development Bank of Namibia approved financing worth N$11.3 million for projects in Oshana Region.
- Road infrastructure development gained momentum, with nine roads prioritised for upgrading to bitumen standard at an estimated cost of N$2.1 billion.
Education projects valued at N$32 million were implemented across the region.

THE REAL MADRID FOUNDATION FOOTBALL CLINIC PROGRAM| Regional Governor of Oshana, Hofni Iipinge this afternoon officially closed the week long Real Madrid Foundation Football Clinic program which has been taking place at the Oshakati Independence Stadium.

The foundation program is an initiative between Real Madrid, Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture and other stakeholders aimed at identifying and nurturing sport talent among young girls and boys globally and Namibia in particular.

The program attracted hundreds of young boys and girls from different schools and localities in the region whose football skills were not only improved but also got to learn important life values that will guide them throughout their lives.

In his remarks, Regional Governor of Oshana, Hofni Iipinge noted that sport is one of the most powerful tools for youth development.

“It teaches them discipline, perseverance , respect, teamwork , leadership and resilience, these are same qualities that build successful communities , strong institutions and prosperous nations,” he said.

He further encouraged participants and their leaders to ensure that the momentum gained
continues in their communities, schools and sports club. He also commended both the Madrid Foundation, MEIYSAC, parents, teachers and all stakeholders for their unity and partnership in giving opportunities to young people.

Meanwhile, a young Lendy Bosor, participant in the program says the past few days was an amazing experience for her and her fellow participants.

“It was an amazing experiences, a bond that could never be broken. We learned a lot and made new friends and I really just want to thank the Real Madrid Foundation for the wonderful opportunity,” she noted.

Regional Governor of Oshana, Hofni Iipinge through his office has this morning handed over starting up capital in a form of income generating materials worth N$39,248.00 to four young beneficiaries to empower their business and help fight unemployment among the youth and generate income.
The material includes an industrial sewing and embroidery machine given to Paderia Mandume to empower her tailoring business, seven barbershop hair-clipper and barbing accessories to Jafet Nambahu and Leo Johannes as well as two printers handed over to Leonard Gabriel.
The funds for purchasing materials were solicited from Rani Trading through the office of the Governor.
