*Eid al-Adha Goodwill Message to Nigerians*
_From the National President, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria [ALGON] Hon. (Engr.) Bello Lawal_
On behalf of the 774 Local Governments and Area Councils, the National Executive Council, Board of Trustees, Management and Staff of ALGON, I wish to extend warm greetings and heartfelt felicitations to all Muslim faithful as we enter the sacred 10 days of Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH.
Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, reminds us of the timeless virtues of obedience, faith, sacrifice, and compassion exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim [AS]. It renews our commitment to the Pillars of Islam: Shahadah, Salat, Zakat, Sawm, and Hajj, which anchor our faith, discipline our lives, and bind us as one Ummah.
This season is also a call to action at the grassroots. For millions in rural Nigeria, a peaceful and dignified Eid depends on safety, affordability, and solidarity. ALGON urges all Local Government Chairmen, traditional rulers, community leaders, and security stakeholders to support the less privileged and prioritize public safety through proactive intelligence gathering, coordinated patrols, and genuine community engagement. When citizens and security agencies work together, we protect lives, markets, and places of worship, and ensure that no family is denied the joy of Eid.
May this blessed period deepen our devotion to God, strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, and inspire renewed commitment to nation-building from the grassroots up.
*Eid Mubarak to all Nigerians.*
May Allah accept our prayers, sacrifices, and good deeds.
*Hon. Engr. Bello Lawal*
National President, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON).
