NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE HOSTS UGANDA NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE DELEGATION
The Nigeria Immigration Service on 21st May 2026 hosted a delegation from the National Defence College (NDC) of the Ugandan Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) at the Service Headquarters, Abuja, as part of the delegation’s study tour to Nigeria aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting regional collaboration in Border Security and Migration Management.
1. The delegation was led by Brig. Gen Nangeso Kefa William of the UPDF, alongside Colonel Onoja Okwali representing the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, they participated in presentations, interactive sessions, and facility tours centred on the theme: “Comparative Strategic Approaches to National Security, Defence Transformation and Development in Emerging and Transitional States.
2. The Comptroller General of Immigration, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, fspsp, represented by the DCG Visa and Residency, FU Nwanneka, in her welcome remarks emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration, mutual cooperation, and continuous knowledge sharing among both institutions.
3. Discussions during the visit focused on shared security challenges facing African countries, including Border Security and Migration Management , intelligence sharing, inter-agency cooperation, capacity building, and regional collaboration in addressing transnational threats. The engagement also provided an opportunity for the exchange of operational experiences, best practices, and strategic insights between both countries.
4. The visit further strengthened the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Uganda while reinforcing the importance of collective efforts towards continental security, effective Migration Governance, and sustainable peace within Africa.
5. The Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to fostering strategic partnerships, enhancing professional cooperation, and supporting regional initiatives geared towards improved Border Governance, safer migration systems, and sustainable peace and security within Africa.

NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE PARTICIPATES IN INTERNATIONAL CIVIL SERVICE CONFERENCE 2026
The Nigeria Immigration Service participated in the 2026 International Civil Service Conference hosted by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation at Eagle Square, Abuja.
2. The Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, led the delegation of Heads of Agencies under the Ministry of Interior. During his presentation, he highlighted the Ministry’s operational activities, achievements, and current reform measures targeted at reinforcing internal security and elevating Service Delivery standards.
3. The Conference convened key figures from Government and Private Sector including Heads of Ministries, Departments, Agencies nationwide, to deliberate on strengthening public service delivery and advancing institutional reforms. It also served as a platform for the Service to engage with delegates, stakeholders, and participants from across the country, promoting stronger public relations and inter-institutional cooperation.
4. In addition, the Service maintained an exhibition booth during the conference to showcase current reforms and their outcomes, while also serving as a dedicated point of contact for inquiries and stakeholder engagement.
5. The Conference wrapped up with various panels and roundtable sessions where the Service, Key officers from the Ministry of Interior, International Organization for Migration and Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation where they examined the theme “Integrated Migration Management in Nigeria: Challenges, Opportunities, and Strategic Reforms,”. It also focused on practical steps to improve migration governance, boost interagency cooperation, and adopt technology-driven solutions.
6. Nigeria Immigration Service participation in the conference underscores its commitment to effective Migration Management, strengthened Border Governance and continuous institutional transformation in line with the Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and global best practices.

NIGERIA IMPLEMENTS 30-DAY VISA EXEMPTION FOR RWANDAN NATIONALS
Following the announcement by His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR at the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, granting Rwandan Nationals a 30-day visa exemption, reciprocating similar gesture from Rwandan Government to Nigerian citizens, the Nigeria Immigration Service has completed all arrangements for the directive’s implementation.
